Corissa Feenstra – Heavy Duty Mechanic

Moving from Campbell River to Fort St. John was a big step into the unknown for Corissa. As someone who had failed to find the appeal in a variety of different jobs, she made the decision to act on the advice of a friend and move up North in order to enroll within a Heavy Duty Mechanic Foundations program. Since then, she has found her true calling and currently keeps busy by working as Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic with V. E. Brandl. When Corissa isn’t maintaining or repairing heavy equipment, she is busy spending quality time with her three daughters and operating her own sleep consultation business.

Family is very important to her, and she is particularly thankful for her husband and relatives who have offered encouragement throughout her professional journey. Corissa believes that education is a vital component of any skilled trade, and has instructed others at Northern Lights College, a role which she hopes to continue in the future. She attributes much of her success to her mentors at V. E. Brandl, and encourages those entering trades to understand what is important to them as an apprentice and find a supportive employer that can provide continuous learning opportunities. Today, Corissa calls Fort St. John her home, and couldn’t be happier that she made a leap of faith and followed her dream seven years ago.
